The restaurant building has a veranda on the rim, with a 180 degree view into the canyon and towards the mountains of Ai-Ais. The sunsets from this viewpoint is stunning, as the views are towards the east, where the color changes on the canyon walls can be experienced to the maximum. The dining room and bar offers relaxation in a unique setting. The set dinner menus include a 3 course meal, all prepared from the kitchen by a trained cook. Menus are provided for each day and make provision for vegetarians as well. |

6 double en suite chalets are situated on the rim of the canyon. Views from the chalets are stunning, as each guest can see the canyon from his bedroom. The location is on the west side of the Fish River Canyon, overlooking the main view point.

Sight seeing & night drives
These drives can be booked in advance or on arrival. A variety of trails are followed and guests can expect to see: Mountain Zebra, Kudu, Klipspringer, Steenbok, Springbok and Ostrich. Smaller animals, like desert squirrels, jackal, mongoose etc. are in abundance. Birdlife includes, amongst others: Black Eagle, Fish Eagle, and Marshall Eagle, a variety of Falcons, Rosy Cheek Lovebird, various water fowls, and smaller species.
The stunning geological formation and numerous sites with ancient rock engravings and artifacts add to the interesting menu of natural and human history of the area.
Hiking Trails
The trails offered by the Canyon Nature Park, are all on privately owned land in the Fish River Canyon. The Canyon Nature Park owns 120km of Canyon Land, just north of Hobas, the main viewpoint. All guided and self-guided hikes takes place within this stretch of canyon. These trails will allow for smaller groups to be guided through an untouched part of the Canyon, experiencing the full impact of the canyon gorges. All trails are being developed at the moment and therefore in an experimental phase. The guests booking for 2004 will have the privilege of being the first persons to walk in the area for decades. No formal trails have been conducted in this particular part of the Canyon before.
Activities included in "All Inclusive" price:
C1 = Mild Activity: Guided 2-hour morning hike along the rim of the canyon. Educational fact about the canyon, fauna and flora are discussed with the guests during the walk. At sunset, a 2-hour scenic 4x4 drive takes guests to the northern part of the park to various view points and into areas with more abundant game, such as Mountain Zebra, Kudu, Springbok, Oryx and Ostrich.
C2 = Heavy Activity: After breakfast guests leave on a 4x4 trip with lodge vehicle, down the canyon to an exclusive rock pool in the river. An overhanging cliff or semi-cave provides shade throughout the day. The pool is 30m deep and as long - excellent swimming. Lunch & drinks are served during the trip. Duration:6-7 hours.

Grande View Lodge : Fully catered, guided hikes Guided and full board. Equipment provided. Hikers carry only small
day packs and rest of luggage is transferred by vehicles to the camps. First and last nights are spent at the Grande View Lodge chalets on the rim of the Canyon. The rest of the nights assistants set up tents at camp sites in the Canyon. Dinner is cooked by the guide and drinks are available at each camp.
